I totally understand. I got a 544 last year after 30 years without one but have found several parts sources and the prices are sometimes pretty high. The old supply / demand thing I guess.
You might try Vintage Import Parts, vintageimportparts.com
They list shocks for about $62 a pair. My guess is they are similar to original equipment.
