Did you swap any parts around during your troubleshooting?

In the case of a 740, the parts on each side are different, and swapping them around can cause short circuits and damage to the plastic. (I know this too well!)

If you hear hoofbeats, think horses not zebras.

Most likely, a bulb went bad, or a connection got dirty.
