I have a 1986 240 DL Station Wagon. I just recently changed the oil, air filter and spark plugs. Before hand I had been having some idle issues and suspected the throttle body needed cleaning but havnt had the time to. After I changed the air filter oil and plugs, I had a few problems. First of all some times while accelerating the car has a lot of trouble-the rpms will rise and it doesnt seem to change gears-the car will speed up but not for a long time-it seems to mostly only happen on hills. The second problem is there seems to be a very horrible mettalic sound when I accelerate- and I cant tell what it is from. What I do know is that there is a wire right next to the oil filter that should be connected to the engine block but has come loose. It was fixed for me while I was out of town after the wire deteriorated and has now come undone-I plan to take it back where the work was done to have it resecured and I was curious as to what it was. Second is that there is a mettalic hose that comes from the left side of the engine out of what I belive is the exhaust manifold (but I'm not sure) which seems to be ripped-is it possible that it is related to my problems and what is this pipe exactly? Thanks for taking the time to read this
