no start when hot/warm 900

When the vehicle runs it is fine- has never faultered once going. Mostly it starts, but occasionally it does not (when warm). If I wait until it cools down it starts ok with help from the gas peddle. I do have a new rpm sensor and fuel pump relay from groton.
When I turn the engine over the tachometer does not move. I am tending towards puchasing a new power stage but am holding back. The car has never failed whilst running and behaves well when it does. With this in mind, could the power stage be faulty? Has anyone had problems with a new rpm sensor?
Advice would be welcome.
