Not related, but the door switch probably needs to be replaced or popped open, and have it's contacts filed smooth. They get pitted or corroded and stop working. With a jeweler's scrwedriver set you can pop these out, and open them up to service the contacts inside. Apply a little grease to keep them happy. Don't lose the little BB's that are in there for switch detents.
