progress update 140-160

Greg,
You're getting the idea. With a B20B in good shape at 1O BTDC, I'd try mid-grade (89 octane) fuel. If it "pings" (detonates) , you have the option of going to higher octane, or retarding to timing a little bit at a time till it stops pinging. If the engine has lost some compression due to age, you may be able to get away with regular at 10 BTDC. So if it doesn't ping with 89 octane at that setting, try half a tank of regular, and se what she sounds like. Prolonged pinging combined with hard driving can ruin an engine, but a bit of pinging over a short period of time, backing off the gas when it gets really loud, won't do much harm, if any.
