I figured out what was causing the problem but I don't know why it was causing the other problem. 200 1985

I posted here twice about a problem that I was having with my A/C not working at times and also the idle speed would drop 200RPM when this was happening.
I would usually hear a clicking noise a few seconds after the car was started and the engine would respond slightly different after the click was heard.
This click was heard even with the A/C off.

I realized that this was the A/C relay that was clicking/not clicking.

I think I had replaced the A/C relay at one point after I bought the car (A/C stopped working but the relay was not the problem) and I had replaced it with a black one (not sure of the number). I had a white relay lying aroud that looked like it would fit (might be the one I replaced) so I tried it just for grins and it worked. The internals look different. The white one has some sort of chip that looks like a small microprocesser.

Now I don't hear the click because it is enrgizing right when the car is started....no delay.

If I remove the relay then the RPM's will drop 200.

Does anyone know what color the relay should be on my 85 240DL?
Does anyone know why yhe RPM's are affected when the relay is not working or it is remove all together?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
