mirror dissasembly 700 1987

hey everyone, i have taken teh side power mirror assemblies off my 87 765, and have discovered that there are two pieces; the triangular shaped pannel that bolts into the door, and the mirror housing which pivots on pannel that bolts to the car, what im try to figure out, is how two separate these, i dont see any clips, bolts, fasteners etc, am i missing something, i need to separate these B/c there is paint bubling and corrosion to the alluminum, and i want to paint the 2 pieces separtely for a better job
