Pulled codes: Ideas on where to start? 900 1994

Dear Mike,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. What is the mileage on your car? It may be time to replace the ECT sensor. If it is not working, the mixture is likely to be rich, which means low mileage and carbon build-up.

I got - on a 93 940 103K - OBD codes suggesting that the Manifold Air Pressure sensor (equivalent to the AMM) was bad, and that the charging system was failing. I replaced the MAP sensor, with one from a salvage yard.

Having done that I got a suggestion from Chuck (aka Porkface) to pull the #1 fuse, which cuts power to the Engine Computer, and to leave the fuse out for 15 minutes. I did so. When I replaced the fuse, I found that the codes had vanished.

If you pull the #1 fuse, and the Codes remain, then there are issues to be addressed.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

spook
