I have a 1990 K10042 Speedo cluster, the odometer has never worked, nor has the cruise control, but the speedo still works. In fact, based on the odometer reading and the maintenance records, the odo hasn't worked in 8+ years. I have taken it completely apart and the gears are fine. I can turn the odo by hand and get the miles to click away. After some research on this site, Art Bernstein and some others point to a possibility that the circuits could have fried in the event of "swapping" wires on the back of the cluster.
First question, aside from the obvious full-moon and half-moon connector and the plug into the speedo unit, where do the other wires go? Two in particular to the left of the speedo. One is yellow, the other striped. Each one easily fits onto either spade.
Second question, if the circuit board is fried, can it be fixed? or do I need to go to the swap and pull to get a new unit?
