Only way to tell if the clutch is bad is to air up that tire and drive the thing, but it doesn't sound out of line.
These transmissions are very sturdy and even if the overdrive goes out , it's usually a fairly simple fix. look in the 700/900 FAQ's for in depth information on the transmission http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/
