When removing the wheels, one of the lugnuts on the right rear froze up somehow and wouldn't come off easily. (It had been torqued to 85 pounds.) Anyway, the lugnut had to be forced off all the way, and by the time it was off the threads on the wheel stud and lugnut were damaged. The Bentley show how to get the stud out of the hub by removing the caliper, rotor and emergency brakes, and pressing it out with a special tool.
Questions:
1. Is there a generic tool available to do the same job without taking the hub off the car? If so, what brand, part number, works well on 240's.
2. Should I be routinely putting a bit of anti-seize on the wheel studs each time I remove the wheels to prevent this problem?
3. Is 85 pounds torque too much? That's what local tire shops do.
4. Can I run with just four lugnuts on that wheel until it's in the shop next?
