I think I know the answer to this, but...
I am rebuilding my B20 and just tried to put the camshaft in. I won't go in all the way--just enters the rear bearing about 1/16 of an inch. Tried it with my new cam and with the old one--same thing.
When I have done engines before (twice, several years ago) I recall that the cam shaft went in completely without any persuasion. The block has new cam bearings put in at the machine shop. Did the guy screw something up or is it kosher to tap the camshaft into place? I strongly suspect the former and am reluctant to do the later!
