I use a Nikon Coolpix 5000. It is a top of the line camera with more features than I need. A $200 digtital camera is all you need. My son uses a Toshiba, my daughter uses an entry level Nikon, and my wife uses a Sony. The Sony is easy to use.

As a general rule, the cameras come with software for editing pictures.
