Ron-
Actually, I removed the tripometer/odometer out of the instrument cluster. I can see that the cable moves the number wheel shaft completely from one endstop to the other, but only the hundred wheel resets.
I checked the other number wheels, all move freely, but none will reset. Without taking it completely apart, nothing on the tripometer looks broke, bent, or missing.
My problem is, I have three instrument clusters for two cars, and all three instrument clusters have non working tripometer. One doesn't reset all the numbers (only the hundred wheel), one resets but doesn't advance with the odometer (only reads 000.0), and one kinda resets (sometimes it takes 20 or more times to reset to 000.0, but I'm usually happy if I get it to set to 100.0) and advances with the odometer some of the time.
From this, my thinking is that most 122 tripometers don't work properly? I thought someone from this group would have repaired, replaced, or had some neat little trick to get it working again.
Would be great to get one of mine working again!
