I read in the FAQ section, also in other posts, that ATF (esp Mobile1 Synthetic) can be a desirable, if not better, fluid to use in the power steering system.

Why is this the case? What are the properties of ATF that allow it be used in both applications?

Can ATF be used as a power steering fluid in Japanese cars also?

ATF used as a power steering fluid? 200
