I went back and had a second look at that '88 740 turbo wagon 279k($600) and I checked the oil and the dipstick was bone dry!
I am going to call the guy this AM and ask him to bring 4 qts of oil to where the car is parked and see if it has a major leak.It was his wife's car maybe she just hadn't added any oil ever....
I planned on offering $400 maybe $500.The car is rust free(from Virginia).
Hopefully the rar main seal isn't shot or the PCV system clogged.
