Heater/Defroster stuff... 200

So the time has come... the dreaded heater/defrost fan replacement.

Does anyone have any strong preference for one supplier over another? I'm looking for folks who have experience with any source... after-market or OEM.

It seems that I remember reading about a place (in Canada maybe?) that makes a ball-bearing repalcement for the fan. I'm probably dreaming (or worse, I did have some pretty graphic pizza dreams last night...), but if it does exist, that might be an good replacement.

Also, while I'm deep into the bowels of the dash, I'm going to replace the heater control valve, too (mine has gone into the digital mode), so same question... any experience with these? My car is an '82; I'd like to hear from someone who has done the conversion to the newer style heater control... is it worth the effort, etc.
