I have a '86 240DL with almost 50K on it. I keep on hearing horror stories about the wireing harnesses going bad on this era of brick. I was just wondering if it is a job I can do myself (what is involved?).
Also, are there any symptoms that indicate that the harness is bad? I have no issues, except that it will not run smooth - feels like a slight miss at all RMPs. Have checked timing, installed new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, O2 sensor, knock sensor, coolant temp sensor, cleaned IAC valve, cleaned oil box & flame trap, mass air meter, and replaced the flexable air hose from breather box to throttle body. I think my next step will be to clean out throttle body.
Thanks!!!
