My wife has a '92 244 with an AW70 automatic transmission that experiences delayed upshifts into overdrive. Here are the symptoms:
- Upshifts to second and third appear normal
- During normal acceleration, the tranny shifts into overdrive from 47-55 mph, and then only when you hold that speed for a while. Our other 240s shift into OD at around 42 mph or so.
- If you turn off the overdrive, at around 50 mph or so, the tranny downshifts to third properly, but if you engage tor over drive again, there is a delay in reengagement of the overdrive.
I have adjusted the kickdown cable, changed the tranny filter, and did a complete fluid flush through the cooling line. None of these actions seemed to help the problem.
Is it possible that I have a sticking or "balky" OD solenoid?
Any input or suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks!
