DL vs. 240DL

The 1980's were just identified as DL's, GL's or GT's. I have my car's Owner's Manual right here and interestingly enough I cannot see any mention of "240" on the cover and on the general info page inside where it shows front and side versions of the sedan and wagon it just says "Model versions of the basic Volvo Models DL, GL, GT." On the back of my 1980 wagon it simply says VOLVO on one side, DL on the other, while on the '92 it is VOLVO and 240.
