red dash light 120-130

Jumped in my sons 1964 122S tonight to gas it up. On the left side of the dash is a bright RED light glowing back at me, is this telling me that the generator is not charging? If this is the problem...should I rebuild the existing generator/replace it with a new one or change it over to an alternator? Thanks for all the help! Karl
