Torque converter problem

intalled my TC on the input shaft. I bolted together tranny/engine. TC was not on all the way. It was pressing the flexplate into the engine. I did not tighten the bolts very tight, but it was enough to bend the flexplate. I took the tranny off and the TC was very difficult to remove. It slid off fine until the last half inch it would get stuck. I just yanked it off with a lot of strength. Damaged TC due to bad install?

One flexplate later I reinstalled TC and tried again. Nope. TC still wasnt on all the way.

A volvo pro told me the TC goes on 3 clicks. I stood the tranny on its tail and put on the TC. I think I got three clicks. I tried many times. I only could get the TC to go about 1 cm deep after 3 clicks. It needs to be 1.4cm deep into the bellhousing. I pulled out the 4lb mini sledge and gave the TC a few raps while turning it. I got the TC to go on further, actually too far. It is now 1.7 cm deep, but it should only be about 1.4 cm deep into the bellhousing.

So I have a TC that doesnt like to come off and it is now too far on the tranny input shaft (confirmed by the gap between TC and flexplate when installed).

Did I break the TC, press the input shaft into the trranny, or can I just pull the TC out more and all will be happy?

Thanks.
