I have an 89 745 T and it uses the angled sensor. The one with the beveled top edge. I don't remember the Bosch number. After fooling around with a Saab APC unit I asked my local mechanic if different engines didn't make different knock noises and how this is compensated for. I mean if your valves were horribly out and making a lot of noise, or piston slap - wouldn't this affect a knock sensor? His reply was that for the same type engine (ie.Volvo 230 FT vs a Mercedes V6) there were different knock sensors specified. So if your Volvo had bad valves or piston slap yes it might affect the knock sensor and also you need the proper sensor for the proper engine. I tried using the Saab sensor that came from the salvage yard with the APC unit and couldn't get it to work right until I got another Volvo sensor for a B230FT (it is stacked atop the original sensor). Moral: get the specified knock sensor for your engine.
