Had the same problem on a '73 164 -- here's what it was... 140-160

Ken, This car had an EGR valve I believe at some point in time. When I purchased it the remains of a tube, a valve and a few fittings were in the trunk. I simply put a plug in the manifold and figured that I did not need this component anyway. I dont know if this was right or not now you mention your experience. As I had stated in my second post, I have found that this stalling can be replicated even without the car moving so the connection with the transmission would appear to be non-existant. I tryed to run the vehicle into work tonight and it feels like a dampner piston is sticking or something.I will have to take a look at this again in the morning. Thanks
