I have been trying to get a 1992 745TI w/108K to start after I replaced the head gasket, t-belt and seals. It turns over, runs for a second and dies. I know I have spark, fuel is in the rail, the fuel pumps come on (from click and feeling relays), I checked the timing marks and they line up, the distributer is inline (could be slightly off but only very slightly), the car does not start with started fluid, tank is 3/4 full. This car hasn't been run since, maybe, Febuary.
How do I remove the gas to rule out bad gas?
Even if the timing marks line up is it possible that something is off?
If I can't get it started this weekend I have to sell it as is. How does one ethically and economically sell a car that doesn't start?
I am about to check the fuel injectors but sonce it doesn't start with started fluid I don't think that is it. I also changed the spark plugs to known good ones and oiled the cylinders through the spark plug holes (very slightly) to rule out fuel removing the oil seal.
Thanks
