engine temperature

How hot would the oil filter adapter get on a 740? Mine seems to have a small leak and I don't have the time or the tools to remove it and replace the internal seals so I am thinking of trying to cover the leaking area with a silicone sealer. However, the sealer states that it can only handle up to 400 degrees fahrenheit. Do you think this area would exceed that temperature?
