Checking Hall Sensor 1988

That is exactly how I check them on the 740. Just make sure the coil wire is grounded (and not through you).

I use a 8mm ratcheting box end wrench to remove the three distributor cap screws, and a 10mm ratcheting box end wrench to remove the two bolts holding the distributor to the head. Those two wrenches make the job easy and worth the expense.
