1898 740 GL Stalling 700 1989

This has started happening in the last week. I live in Las Vegas and it is 110+ degrees so keep this in mind.

I'm driving along and all of a sudden pressing the gas pedal doesn;t accelerate. The RPM go up to 1500/2000 but no acceleration. I try it a bunch of times and all of a sudden it works. Sometimes I ahve to tpull over put it in Park, stop, the restart and rev it up in Park to get it going again.

I will not fix anything myself since I don't know much about auto repair but I would appreciate some thoughts so that when I take it in, I have some sort of idea of what's wrong.
