900 front door delamination --- how big a problem?

when i replace my venerable '87 760T i'm considering a 960 (or a similar vintage M-B 300E) but I have heard stories (and seen one) of the interior vinyl door covering shrinking and wrinkling on 960's and that it's expensive to replace. if I buy one that looks okay is it likely to stay that way (I garage my cars). thanks.
