suspension

The solid rear axle has a continuous, heavy tubular member (axle) which goes from wheel to wheel. In the center of this axle is a enlarged "pumpkin" into which goes the driveshaft. There is no pivot or movement between the wheel and the center of the axle. When the wheel hit a bump, the whole axle pivots upward on the opposite wheel.
