I just recently did this job and didn't have any problems with the clearance. The only problems I had were in reaching some of the bolts on the drivers side mount. BTW I used the 2x6 tool from the FAQs and jacked up the engine from the top.

I love telling my friends that I had to go to home depot to get the tools necessary to fix my volvo....they get a kick out of it too.
