UH OH--voltage question

No issues. Both 12V systems. Your diesel, however draws a LOT of power to crank it over. Probably double what the Camry requires to get it started. Ever notice how BIG your battery is? The best way to go, is to connect the jumper cables from the running Camry to the diesel, and go relax for a half hour. Let the Toyota fully charge your dead battery. Then it should be strong enough to turn over the diesel.

If you've already jumpstarted it and it did *something* bad to the Camry, well, I guess there's another problem to work out. As I said starting a diesel is more demanding- the Camry may have a fuse or circuit breaker that popped. I don't know that Toyota uses anything like that, its just a guess. VOlvo does not have any type of fuse from the output of the alternator direct to the battery. Make sure the jumper cables have a very good, clean place to bite onto the battery clamps- the cables could even overheat if you tried to start it for a long time.

So I'm curious- did you kill the Camry? (Point, Volvo!)
