Rotor Surface / Machining 1995

Hello all: This question is related to my 1995 940. But it should apply to all vehicles with disk brakes.

On the outside surface of the rotor, near the center bearing, there is a small raised ridge of metal.

I looks like when the rotor was last machined the cutter on the resurfacing maching didn't not compete it's full cut towards the center of the rotor.

Both side of the car are like this.

The ridge does cut into the brake pad just a little

QUESTION: Has anyone seen this before? Is this the way a rotor should be?

Any comment would be appreciated.

I'm going to post this same message on the 900 forum to see if it's something unique to a 940 brakung system...Thanks...Mr. Tool
