Read this section from the 700/900 FAQ's (and anything else you can find related to timing belts):

It may be that the belt tensioner is worn out, allowing the teeth to jump. You also want to be careful that you get the correct belt. The later B230's had different shaped sprocket teeth and consequently use a different belt.
I assume you have a B230 (single cam, 8 valves) and not a B234 (dual cam, 16 valves)????
