persistant pinging problems update..... 700

Well.....I will be putting the fuel pressure guage on this week and driving the car to see what its doing. I'm hoping its something simple like the FPR however I am doubtfull. When I went to set the AMM on the gas analyser, it was lean and I could not richen it up past .01%CO So I will be replacing the AMM. I doubt the FPR is bad mainly because there is no sign of fuel in the vacuum hose, nor do I have a rough idle or rich idle. Ive seen many FPR's go bad and usually they leak out the vacuum hose (can be a nightmare to find sometimes!, on other makes of cars) The Knock sensor did help, however the pings are still there. After veryfying the FPR im gonna clean out the dist. seeing there is a light trace of oil in the cap and see what that does. Im also going to do a compression test to make sure when the head was milled, the compression did not go too high. Ill keep ya posted when i get it!

BTW...Fisher, the injectors were brand new bosch injectors. I did a lot of reasearch before buying them because they are so expensive. And I talked to another tech at the shop where I work and he said they can clean out all of the deposits, but there will be pitting up by the pintle and the opening where the fuel pattern is acheived. you can get all the crap out, but you can not fill in the pits, so it may destort the pattern. and since i only want to spend the money once...I opted fot the new injectors. I had also talked to one of our local suppliers, and inquired about "rebuilt" injectors. he used to carry them, but for every 4 he had sold, he got 2 back defective. That was more than enough info to steer me toward new ones. But most definatly worth the investment, espically if you have high miles (200k on mine)
