I have an 87 240 DL automatic. Lately when I go to start it, the engine is immediately flooded, right on the first attempt I smell gas, and the engine's flooded, even without me pumping the throttlew or anything. It eventually starts up with a lot of cranking, then runs almost perfectly after that. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Also, does anyone know how to quickly start a flooded engine w/ an 87 240 DL? I read somewhere to put the pedal to the floor and crank the engine, but this seems counterproductive, and I have not had a chance to try this method yet. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.
