Custom air box for Dellortos on a B20

Hi,
I'm fitting twin 45 DHLAs to my rebuilding B20. The easy filter answer is to use foam sock over the inlet horns, but that means sucking nice hot air from above the exhaust.
Has anyone tried modifying the standard carb airbox (the one with the rectangular filter) to get cold air in? Alternatively, has anyone built a box from scratch? An better ideas welcome too!
