How do I remove Temp Gauge sending unit? 900

Car is '94 960 B6304 engine. I know approximately where the sending unit is; on the driver side middle section of the cylinder head, but I can't even see the unit, even with a flashlight.

I'm wondering how much stuff I have to take off from that side of the engine to get to that unit. I'm fairly positive that it is the source of intermittant readings on both the temp & fuel gauge.

Anybody have any experience on removing this?
