I have the opportunity to buy a 74 142 that looks very nice for $350. I am located in Portland, OR, but it is in Victoria B.C. The reason for the low sale price is because it has some major engine problem that would cost too much for the current owner to fix. It is FI, odn't know if it is E or F but it has an m40 coupled to it. The engine runs and the owner wouldn't mind driving it short distances. It has non working heated seats and non working power steering. Otherwise everything else is in decent shape so I hear. It has 198000 miles on it... Anyway, as you probably already know, I have a 1968 142 with a 74 motor w/weber on it and m40. My engine as far as i know is in good shape (I don't have problems racing it) so I was wondering if I should pick up this car and swap engines. I also just picked up a pair of SU HS6s and aluminum manifold for them at the IPD garage sale...
The problem with the canadian car is something in the bottom end, so I was wondering if I should switch bottom ends and keep the FI or swap whole engines and put the SUs on my current engine and sell the FI......
Blah, blah blah,
What do you think??? About everything, including getting it down here...
later,
Kyle
ALSO:
My car needs brakes all around, has been in two "crashes" just while I've owned it, has worse rust than the car in canada, has 252K on it, and needs a new diff/rear end. So If I swapped blocks, I could sell my current car as a parts/project car for maybe $350 with the weber on it. blah blah blah,
