My 242 is a ball to drive, but the gas mileage is probably lousy.. the ol' reliable odometer failed at least 4 years ago. surprise surprise. I have heard about the oxygen sensor being a big help in improving gas mileage, etc..
So, I purchased one on the net. Didn't bother to look under the hood to find the old one. Ah.. there it is.. but......it's not connected to a darned thing! Looking carefully along the firewall for a wire that's not connected to anything. Here's one.. it's a female plug attached to a green wire with a red collar. I'm guessing that's the one. I looked in my Haynes, and it looks like a green wire connects to this sensor.
I looked at my daughter's '80 245, and of course the connection is completely different, coming through the firewall on the same side as the sensor. My green connector is towards the driver side of the firewall, near the top center.
Any suggestions? I'd like to think that this is the right one, but that means fashioning a connection (no problem there.. IF it's the right one).
I wish I could say that this will make "Brownie" as good as new, but alas...
Thanks,
Larry
