Warning Lights Flashing/Bad Alternator? 700 1987

I checked the FAQ, and there's sort of some info on my problem, but wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this. To wit, out of the blue, driving home tonight, headlights on, at certain rpms (mostly medium rpms) suddenly all the warning lights on the cluster start coming on. Drop to idle, they all go off. Pulled into the drive, rev the engine, they all start to light up, drop to idle, they all go off. Is this suggestive of a bad alternator? Just replaced brushes/regulator last year, but I know that's no guarantee of anything. It's a 1987 740GLE wagon.
Thanks in advance
Richard in Kansas
