Injector Purge

I own a diesel Mercedes along with a Volvo 240. Many of the diesel enthusiasts swear by a product called 'diesel purge'. See http://www.pindelski.com/cars/W126/Diesel_purge/W126_diesel_purge.html for details on how this product is used. Basically, it is an injector cleaner, but the product is pumped directly through the injectors (rather than mixed in the gas tank). Has anyone tried a similar procedure on gasoline injectors (filling a jar w/injector cleaner before the fuel pump, connecting return lines to the jar,starting & running car on mostly injector cleaner)? If so, what type of injector cleaner did you use & how were the results? Thanks for the help!
