OK, so the eBay Volvo was back in the shop today to get that fuse fixed. Aparently the fuse that shorted was in the console. I think that when I was messing with the console (cleaning and fixing it) I moved stuff around and caused it to happen. He passed me on the inspection, but he could only do that by overlooking a leak in my front muffler. Says it needs to be replaced in a few months. So, I have a question (don't laugh!). Do I have two mufflers? If not, what does he mean by 'front' muffler? When I took the car in to have the rust fixed on the undercarriage, the guy noticed a small rust hole in the muffler. He told me about it and said that patching it with furnace cement would probably allow me to pass an inspection as well as allowing me more time before having to replace it. So, when I was doing my detailing, I patched it with the furnace cement. Is this bad? Also, is it relatively simple to replace a 'front muffler'?
Lastly, regarding the steering rack, the issues is that the valves are faulty. He told me there was no way to repair them, we'd just have to replace the whole steering rack. He told me that if a hard turn to the left when parking didn't bother me, to not do it. He said that it's completely safe to drive. Thoughts?.
Thanks, again.
