John McRaven, and all you other kind souls who gave me guidance on what to do about an exhaust system after I put a fresh B20 into my PV; thanks.
I went with a 2.25 inch pipe, bent to go over the axle, and one Starla Volvo 240 Turbo muffler in the conventional, transwerse, location. Fits fine, works well, and is quieter than the original skinny, two-muffler, set-up with the B18 (despite the B20's being a noisier motor), but with a deeper sound. Definitely a recommendable approach.
