alternator lost?

I suppose that doesn't literally mean the thing is MIA? Not present at all?

Since I am not able to replace diodes and alternator bearings, failure of those things are the only reasons I would consider putting in another unit. The usual failure is worn out brushes and/or belts. Either of those is way less costly than another alternator.

If you go for the new unit, consider replacing all three of the rubber mounting bushings. Worn bushings allow the belt to get out of alignment.

Good Luck,

Bob
