Thanks to those of you who let me know that the dome light delay timer is in the dome light assembly. (My delay timer had shorted and the light was on all the time.)
Being too cheap to buy another dome light, I decided that the delay timer was "nice to have", but really not necessary. Here is how you get rid of it:
1. Remove the dome light assembly from the car.
2. Locate the circuit board assembly on the dome light.
3. Release the plastic catch at the front of the circuit board assembly
and lift the circuit board until it breaks free of the dome light
4. Unsolder the bare wire that goes from the circuit board assembly to the dome light frame.
5. Unsolder the black & white wire from the circuit board assembly.
6. Clean off the solder from the metal tab where the circuit board used to be attached.
7. Solder the black & white wire to where the circuit board assembly used to be soldered to the metal tab in step 6.
8. Reconnect the wires and test. It should come on and off with the door switch, but not have a delay.
9. reinstall dome light assembly.
