Thanks for the help guys. I printed off the FAQ and will use it when I get to the car. Since the car is a ways away I want to get everything I can before I head off to fix it. Here's what I'm thinking:
1)Try and find a new alternator locally, get a battery, go and fix the car.
2)Go to the junkyard, pull an alternator and use it and a new battery to get me home, then possibly re-build it. What I'd like to know is if I can grab a higher amp alternator from a later 240 or 740, and how do you tell the amp rating?
3)Get a new regulator and give it a try, if it doesn't work do one of the options above.
What I'd really like to do is do the GM alternator swap for 100amps, but my main priority right know is to get the car back on the road. What do you think I should do, buy a new alt. or try the used route? Do you think a 70 amp alt. would be enough?
