CD player problem

The other day my CD player (original Volvo in a 1998 S-90) would not play the CD I have had in it for a few days. It ejected it but will not suck in any more CD's and if you push them in, which takes a gentle pushing it just spits them back out again. Has anyone experienced this before and if so what did you do?
Maybe it didn't like Carlos Santana's guitar.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm usually on the V8 conversion forum asking about my 740 / chev V8 swap.
