Transmission OD problem

I have been having the problem that my trans OD lock out is intermitantly going on & off. If I gently move the relay back & forth on the relay board, the relay flips on & off. Can I simply remove the relay & operate the car w/ out it? Will this affect or harm anything?

PS It's a 1984 760 Gle w/ aod trans ( I believe AW70/71 )
